Good evening, Board of Supervisors. My name is [NAME] and I live in District ___. I am part of [ORGANIZATION] and a member of the Community Budget Alliance. My vision for our County is one where everyone has what they need to thrive.
[Add a sentence to show what that means to you]
We thank you for fully funding self-sufficiency services, the Immigrant Legal Defense Program and the tenant legal services contract.
These are the kinds of investments that keep people housed, supported, and connected to opportunity. But while our communities struggle to afford housing, healthcare, and basic needs, money continues to pour into criminalization, from Prop 36, to sheriff overtime, to building more jail capacity. We need to be investing in care, stability, and opportunity. We urge you to:
Our communities deserve safety, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive. We urge you to choose care over criminalization. Invest in the services and opportunities our communities need to thrive.

Good evening, Board of Supervisors. My name is [NAME] and I live in District ___. I am part of [ORGANIZATION] and a member of the Community Budget Alliance.
I urge you to stand with immigrant communities and approve the CAO’s proposed budget for the Immigrant Legal Defense Program (ILDP) in the County’s FY 2026-2027 budget and fully fund the program.
As ICE enforcement actions continue to create fear and instability, the need for deportation defense has never been greater. ILDP provides essential legal services that ensure people understand their rights and have a fair chance to defend themselves.
[ADD A PERSONAL STATEMENT IF APPLICABLE]
No one in our community should face detention or deportation alone simply because they cannot afford an attorney. Funding ILDP is about fairness, due process, and protecting families. I ask you to invest in this critical program and ensure it continues without interruption.
Thank you.

Young people in San Diego county deserve care, not criminalization nor confinement.
Our youth deserve to have spaces, places, and supports that keep them and our communities healthy and strong. Youth are too often met with punishment instead of care and are sent into the juvenile legal system where they face violence and further criminalization.
[Insert personal story here]
We urge you to allocate $250,000 for a feasibility study for a Department of Youth Development. This investment will help us reimagine how the County supports young people. DYD will bring coordination, coherence, and intentionality to how we invest in young people, creating a County where all young people have what they need to thrive.

Everyone deserves respect, dignity and safety on the job. Yet, wage theft is the biggest form of theft with businesses stealing more than $50 billion from workers each year in the US.
Wage theft is rampant, and while the Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement does a great job, they are under-resourced.
[Insert personal story]
Workers wait months or years to recover stolen wages, sometimes never getting justice, while dishonest employers face little consequence.
To better support workers and working-class families, we urge the County of San Diego to hire two additional investigators in the Office of Labor Standards and Enforcement to make sure every worker in San Diego is paid what they deserve.
The County must also increase the Workplace Justice Fund by $350,000 and hire a senior deputy counsel to support operating and managing this fund.

ICE is terrorizing our communities. Federal attacks are stripping workers of their livelihoods and starving small businesses. We need our leaders to take action and establish an emergency relief fund.
[Insert personal story]
This fund is essential for workers, families, and local businesses struggling to survive the devastating impact of ICE raids, and the terror the federal government is spreading in our communities.
The County needs to make sure everyone can thrive, especially when our communities are targeted and in crisis. We demand the County create an emergency fund for workers, families, and small businesses impacted by ICE raids.

Housing is the foundation of stability, yet so many people are one rent increase or one emergency away from losing it.
We want to begin by thanking you for fully funding the tenant legal services contract. This is a people-first investment that helps people stay housed.
[Insert personal story]
When people have legal representation, they are far more likely to avoid eviction and remain housed. This is prevention work that keeps families together and reduces long-term harm.
We urge you to protect and strengthen eviction prevention services to provide our communities with the housing security they need.

The San Diego region continues to see more people falling into homelessness than exit homelessness each month, resulting in the continued growth of our unhoused population. Many emergency housing vouchers expire in a couple of months, which will push even more people into instability.
We need to proactively prevent individuals from falling into homelessness by either keeping them in their existing housing or providing enough time to transition to stable housing.
[Insert personal story]
We urge the County to allocate $3 million to create a pilot Eviction Diversion Program to help keep people housed. This program would allow tenants and landlords to opt-in to a mediation program outside of the eviction process and provide funds for back rent. This could prevent individuals from having an eviction judgement against them, save both landlords and tenants time and money, and help keep families in their homes.

Programs like Cal-Fresh are a clear example of what real care looks like in government. They are often the difference between stability and crisis, between being able to put food on the table or go without.
We want to acknowledge and thank the County for stepping in to cover the impacts of federal cuts and helping ensure that people can continue accessing nutrition and support.

We thank you for fully funding self-sufficiency services and adding adequate staffing. This investment meets people at a critical moment and helps prevent harm. As federal cuts continue to worsen, we urge you to protect and strengthen this funding so people are not pushed further into instability.
