Description

San Diego County’s failure to enroll eligible residents in three major federal and state safety net programs – CalFresh, CalWORKs, and Medi-Cal – is costing the local economy nearly $1 billion a year. Five years after San Diego County was exposed as having one of the worst records of food stamp enrollment in the United States, little has changed. In 2014, San Diego County’s low enrollment rate meant only 49.5% of eligible residents received food stamps.
