May Day Pledge

We demand for ICE to be banned from our school campuses and workplaces.

We demand that Mayor Todd Gloria and our elected city council represent our working communities without terrorizing, criminalizing, surveilling and exploiting us.

We demand that 2% of the police budget is reclaimed and that mayor Todd Gloria uses those $14 million dollars towards public investment that will increase community wealth, health and justice for all, especially for working class and communities of color. As students and community members we align with CPI’s Community Budget Alliance people’s budget that demands:

Pass a wage theft ordinance to stop billionaires and the wanna be billionaires from stealing from workers
An additional $1.6 million in funding for the Eviction Prevention Program (EPP)
Pedestrian beacons near Rosa Parks elementary ($40k) and a senior engineering position within Parks & Rec ($300k) to streamline small projects.
$100 million in funding to improve and repair stormwater infrastructure before the next disaster hits
Full funding for Public Libraries, Parks and Rec centers
We demand that mayor Todd Gloria direct San Diego city police chief Scott Wahl to stop any form of police collaboration with ICE during raids by:
Not sharing data collected by Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) from Flock cameras, and any other surveillance systems that the city/police have contracts with
Not attending to calls from ICE agents to provide security when San Diego residents respond to an ICE raid at a workplace, private home, or in public areas of San Diego
We demand equitable measures of generating revenue for our city by:
Cancelling the contract with Flock that is costing San Diegans $2 million per year
Passing progressive taxes on corporate homeowners who have vacant houses in San Diego

We demand that the City rescind the adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism.

The City’s adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism does not fight hate. This definition is designed to silence calls for the end of the Genocide in Gaza.
