On March 30, 2021 the Community Budget Alliance (CBA) hosted a community conversation panel about protecting workers rights. Panelist spoke about the CBA’s fights this year to move close to a People’s Economy and how any economic recovery efforts must put people first.

Housing & Tenants' Rights

On March 23, 2021 the Community Budget Alliance (CBA) hosted a community education about resources for renters and the need for rent control and more protections.

Panelists spoke about what the CBA is fighting for in this year’s budget and the ongoing fight to protect tenants. Professor Jim Miller, author of “Under the Perfect Sun” gave a history of the San Diego region that created the economic and housing inequity.

Environmental Justice

On March 16, 2021 the Community Budget Alliance (CBA) hosted a conversation about environmental justice in our communities. Panelists talked about what the CBA is fighting for this year to push for environmental justice in the City of San Diego

Democratizing Power

On March 9, 2021 the Community Budget Alliance hosted a conversation about what it means to democratize power.

Youth and immigrants must be integral in the decision-making. The online conversation broke out into groups where community members shared their thoughts and visions for building a more transparent and community-led government.

Redefining Public Safety Panel #1: Divest from Police

On March 2, 2021 the Community Budget Alliance coalition held a conversation discussing the racialized roots of policing. Panelists spoke about how policing policies are fueling mass incarceration and exploiting incarcerated people for their labor.

Breaking Down the City Budget

On February 18, 2021 the Community Budget Alliance hosted a community forum about the City of San Diego budget.

During the forum we discussed where the money comes from, where our money is spent and how we can advocate for a People’s budget in the City of San Diego.
